Carbon Neutral Across GreenlandThe Journey The unassisted Australian team will journey 540 kms across Greenland Icecap beginning in early Apríl 2007 - taking between 30 and 35 days. Unassisted means no food drops, no guides, no dogs, kites or powered vehicles - from the sea on the east coast to the sea on the west. Roger Chao, Linda Beilharz and Rob Rigato will be on skis, hauling sleds of around 100kg each. The team can expect strong winds of up to 150 kms/hour and minus 50 C windchill temperatures. The team will haul their heavy sleds from the eastern coast, climbing to 2600m at the highest point of the icecap, to their journey's end on the western coast of Greenland. Barbara Gasch - Jewellery Dreaming (2007 / in production)
For people of White Cliffs, 22 degrees underground is the only escape from the overwhelming heat on the surface.
This makes it one of the most isolated settlements in the world where people happily spend most of the day 15 meters underground. This is a story about a German born goldsmith who at the peak of her career, 15 years ago, decided to move to a tiny opal-mining town, at the outback of NSW, White Cliffs. Barbara now lives and continues her work from her amazing underground cave. It's a story of inspiration and human solitude, magic which one can only experience by escaping the city monster and freeing the soul from the burdens of civilisation and demands of the daily urban life. Integrated with aerial shots, interviews with Barbara, her amazing, unique jewellery display, and the beautiful imagery of this rough but astonishing landscape, it will be an amazing and inspiring journey. |
